The MacKay Bagpipe Band
MacKay Bagpipe Band was formed in the late 1970's by Lee Lightle, in an effort to create a unique organization where its members could come together to celebrate their love of Scottish and Irish music in an uncompetitive environment. Originally located in Lansdale, PA the band relocated north to Bethlehem after Lee's passing away in the early 90's.
Keeping true to Lee's traditions and principles, the band continues to grow and prosper, proud to accept members from varied age, gender, and interests but all equal in their commitment and importance to the band. Even with over twenty volunteer members, the band continues to provide its members with free lessons, uniforms, and equipment.
Rather than rely on outside sponsorship, the band performs at various events throughout the year with all proceeds going directly towards funding the band. MacKay has won numerous awards at parades and festivals across the North Eastern United States.
